The Colcom Foundation Continues Cordelia's Humanitarian Ideals
Colcom Foundation was first created in 1996 by Cordelia S. May. Since her death in 2005, The Foundation has continued to receive funding in hopes of continuing Cordelia’s humanitarian objectives. The Foundation prides itself on its work in addressing one of the largest problems facing humanity – the Sixth Mass Extinction, thru overpopulation.
Stabilizing The Population
Overpopulation is a complicated problem to face, and Colcom Foundation aims to attack the issue through multiple angles. The use of entertainment-education and mass media, for example, are used by the group to help reduce the amount of unplanned or unwanted births across the globe. Likewise, the group also believes in limiting immigration to help stabilize and gradually decrease the US population. By doing so, the group believes that this will help to reduce the country’s ecological footprint – something that will in turn help to improve the local environment.
Environmental Concerns
The Colcom Foundation also supports many environmental and conservation projects throughout the southwestern Pennsylvania region. Many of these projects address the negative impacts of the many harmful environmental impacts of many human activities such as fracking and fossil fuel activity. Not every project that The Foundation supports, however, has such a grand benevolent focus. Many other projects aim to simply increase the quality of life for the residents of the southwestern Pennsylvania region. These projects are just as diverse in their goals. From education to human services, the many projects that the Colcom Foundation supports may be diverse in their objectives, however, they all share the single dream of improving the quality of life of local residents.
Humanitarian Objectives
Although Cordelia S. May was often misunderstood in her time, her dreams continue to live on in the Colcom Foundation. The Foundation continues to honor her humanitarian ideals by supporting dozens of diverse projects within southwest Pennsylvania. See this article for more information.
