The Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), formerly the Alliance Defense Fund, is the world’s largest legal alliance defending the right to exercise religion and private property freely. History:

They were founded by Alan Sears and Dr. Bill Bright in 1994 as the Alliance Defense Fund and received its current name in June 2016. Alan Sears served as the organization’s president until June 2018.

Alliance Defending Freedom provides litigation, advocacy, and education to protect the right of people to live out their faith freely. They played a key role in defending marriage between one man and one woman at the U.S. Supreme Court level and on Capitol Hill during the marriage debates, winning victories for religious liberty on both fronts.
