Kelcy Warren is the CEO and Chairman of Energy Transfer Partners, a company specializing in developing, constructing, owning and operating energy transportation and distribution networks. Through his company, he is responsible for the setup and maintenance of numerous pipelines which transport natural gas. Warren has been interested in the oil industry since he was young. He eventually became a petroleum engineer at his father’s fuels distributor before deciding to create his own business from scratch.

Kelcy Warren is one of America’s most well-known pipeline investors. Kelcy Warren founded ETP in 1995 with his father and a friend. Warren had previously invested much time working with his father’s fuels distributor during high school, which inspired him to pursue an education related to the oil industry. Kelcy Warren graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering; this is where he met his wife Rebecca, who was studying chemical engineering at the same university.

Warren worked for over two decades at Phillips Petroleum before starting his business venture. He is the founder and past president of SWEPI LP, a pipeline company headquartered in Dallas, purchased by ETP in June 2011 for $307.5 million. Warren has an estimated worth of $4.3 billion as of January 2015. Kelcy Warren currently serves on the board for Sunoco Logistics Partners; he is their co-founder and chairman of the management committee. He also serves on the board for Energy Transfer Equity, a publicly traded master limited partnership (MLP) with ties to General Partner and majority stockholder ETP.

In 2014 Warren became a member of the University’s Board of Regents that oversees operations at Texas A&M University through privatization efforts with private donors.
