Recently, a cohort of Repton School’s promising tennis players journeyed to the Ferrer Tennis Academy in Spain for a rigorous week-long training camp. This trip not only highlighted the dedication of its students but also underscored the institution’s commitment to fostering top-tier athletic talent.

Located in La Nucia, the Ferrer Tennis Academy is renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities, including both clay and hard courts. It was here that 20 pupils from Repton School honed their skills, participating in intense sessions led by esteemed coaches. Among these was Andrew Richardson, known for guiding Emma Raducanu to her historic U.S. Open victory in 2021. The pupils’ itinerary included a mixture of physical conditioning, matchplay, and even an introduction to Padel tennis, offering them a diverse and enriching experience.

James Rushby, Repton School’s director of tennis, noted the significant improvements in the pupils’ game, crediting the week in Spain as instrumental. He emphasized that such international training opportunities are invaluable, not only for skill development but also for the life experiences they provide.
