The sporting career of Big Ben Roethlisberger began in his parent’s backyard. Roethlisberger went on to become one of the best-known quarterbacks in sports but maintained the passion of playing as a child. Born in 1982 in Lima, Ohio, Ben Roethlisberger had to wait for his senior high school year to get a chance at quarterback. After the graduation of the starting quarterback, Roethlisberger moved under center from his role as a wide receiver. Despite only completing a single season as a high school quarterback, the Pittsburgh Steelers legend broke state records for passing yards and touchdowns.

Roethlisberger’s career moved to the University of Miami (Ohio), where the Red Hawks made him a four-year starter. At college, the quarterback had respectable seasons before leaping forward in his junior year. Big Ben achieved a 27-11 record as the Red Hawks’ starting quarterback. By the end of his college career, the quarterback was a lock for the first round of the NFL draft.

By the time Ben Roethlisberger entered the NFL combine, Roethlisberger was standing six feet five inches and weighed 240 pounds. After winning the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award, Roethlisberger reached the pinnacle of football in his second season. A first Super Bowl victory was followed by a second in 2009.

Roethlisberger played on until 2021 when he retired from the game he loves.
