Akeem Jamal Brings His Talents to Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation

Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) has appointed Akeem Jamal as the new Assistant Vice President of Communications and Government Affairs. Jamal is a master of bringing change, and his experience in Yonkers, where he served as the City’s Deputy Communications Director, has helped him gain recognition for his abilities. Jamal is committed to elevating Roosevelt Island’s public image while protecting the quality of life of its residents.

Jamal intends to work with a team to allow people worldwide to explore and discover what the island has to offer as a destination. RIOC’s President and CEO, Shelton J. Haynes, support his vision. He believes Jamal can uplift Roosevelt Island’s public profile within New York City, New York State, and nationally.

Akeem Jamal’s successful tenure in Yonkers is a testament to his ability to foster growth in cities. As the former city official, Jamal was pivotal in transforming Yonkers into the third largest city in New York State. His efforts were evident in the Rebuild Yonkers Schools campaign that resulted in construction of three new schools. Additionally, Jamal’s leadership helped to increase the 2020 census turnout in the city and garner support for notable initiatives such as Ban the Barges campaign to protect the Hudson River bridge between Yonkers and Kingston, NY. Jamal’s achievements highlight his competence in driving sustainable growth in cities and making them more prosperous.

Akeem Jamal’s exceptional skills and experience background have been recognized by the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation, including Vice President and General Counsel Gretchen Robinson. His commitment, eagerness, and expertise demonstrate his ability to handle any job easily. With a Master’s in Business Administration from Pace University’s Lubin School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Media Studies from Fordham University, Jamal’s academic qualifications are also noteworthy. Furthermore, he is an activist who devotes his time to the Mu community, a Southeast Asian ethnic group, which adds to his diverse professionalI         and personal experience.
